The Public Inquiry ended on 19th October 2007 after nearly 5 months. The Inquiry followed BAA's appeal against Uttlesford District Council's refusal of BAA's planning application for an increase in the permitted number of air transport movements and the removal of the 25 million cap on annual passenger movements.
The Inspector, Alan Boyland, is expected to make recommendations by the end of December to the two Government ministers who will take the final decision. They are the Secretary of State for Transport (Ruth Kelly) and the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government (Hazel Blears).
It is anticipated that their decision will be made public in the early months of 2008 and that the Inspector's report will be made public at the same time.
