AUCTION OF PROMISES RAISES THOUSANDS FOR SSE
An auction of promises at a supper held in Little Easton on Friday (16
September) raised £3356 for the Stop Stansted Expansion fighting fund thanks
to the generous support of scores of local people bidding for almost 40
items and services.
Led by Shirley Holden, the Little Easton team had worked for months to
secure a range of auction lots donated by local businesses and individuals.
Tim Trembath of Mullucks Wells brought his professional skills to bear in
eliciting maximum support from the audience.
Those present were tempted
with a wide selection of items ranging from tickets for Prime Ministers
Questions and lunch with Sir Alan Haselhurst MP to 20 sacks of manure. One
lucky bidder even managed to secure a man for the day to show her husband a
thing or two when Dave Osgood of Bambers Green put his DIY skills up for
auction.
