TEDDY BEARS GATHER AT THE GARDENS OF EASTON LODGE

Lord and Lady Braybrooke were guests of honour at the grand Teddy Bears Picnic held at the Gardens of Easton Lodge on Sunday (21 August) in aid of Stop Stansted Expansion (SSE).

Scores of teddies picnicked with their young masters and mistresses and their families as part of a splendid sunny afternoon at the historic Grade II Listed gardens.  The fun-packed occasion also featured a Punch and Judy show, children's games, roving magician and face painting organized by a team of SSE members and their friends.

Prizes were awarded by Lady Braybrooke who was visiting the Gardens of Easton Lodge with her husband for the very first time.  In all, more than 350 people attended the event which is estimated to have raised around £750 for the campaign fighting fund.

Like many other historic sites in the Uttlesford area, the Grade 2 listed Gardens of Easton Lodge are under significant threat from BAA's expansion plans for Stansted Airport.

The noise and pollution impacts of an additional runway and related road links for an enlarged airport whose scale is envisaged to be larger than Heathrow today would devastate not only an historic and tranquil site of national significance but also a long-established haven for local wildlife.
