It really is true that you don't realise how valuable something is until you don't have it around anymore!
I was born and brought up in the tiny hamlet of Bush End, on the edge of the scenic beauty that is Hatfield Forest. I since moved to California 17 years ago.
I miss the beauty and tranquility of the corner of Essex that I will always call home, the village churches, old pubs, historic cottages and homes, fields of corn and hedgerows full of wildlife. It must not all be lost! We can't let the treasures of the County be replaced by runways, car parks and office blocks. I want my 3 daughters to be able to visit the lovely places I knew and explored as a child.
