Are you an occasional or a serious runner – or even a complete novice with a will to start running? If so, please enter the annual Hatfield Broad Oak 10km Run to show your support for Stop Stansted Expansion.
The event takes place in and around the village, which is three miles south of Stansted Airport. The run is always well supported and now attracts c1200 runners keen to help a range of local and other causes. The event will again be using 'Champion Chip' technology, which will time individual runners from crossing the start line to crossing the finishing line.
We're looking for people who'll enter on behalf of SSE, either wearing campaign T-shirts or raising money for SSE through sponsorship. Those who register to take part need to be capable of completing the 10km (6.2 mile) course in 90 minutes. A training plan for beginners is available here.
Advance registration is essential and, if you would like to enter as part of the SSE team, please tell us and note this on your application form at: www.hbo-10k.org.uk
SSE will refund the entrance fee to anyone who raises over £50 in sponsorship for the campaign. Sponsorship forms are available here.

A performance of 'The Winter's Tale' by the Rain and Shine Theatre Company
The annual and highly popular Shakespeare in the Garden at Widford is this year being held in aid of SSE. Licensed bar. Bring a picnic and own low backed chairs or rug. Even summer nights can be cool, so warm clothing, a hot flask and insect repellent are advisable.
Tickets £12 adults (£15 on the day) and £8 for children but advance booking strongly recommended.
Performances are in the open air and will continue, rain or shine, in all but the worst weather. Duration of performance approx 2hrs 30mins including a 20min interval.

Fancy dress (Disney theme) encouraged with prizes for best costumes and, of course, best teddies in the following categories: best campaigning, best loved, best dressed, most cuddly, biggest and smallest, plus best drawing of a teddy brought to the event.
