Campaigning against proposals to expand Stansted Airport

image SSE 2009 COMMUNITY CALENDAR & XMAS CARD PHOTOGRAPHS

The Community Calendars produced for Stop Stansted Expansion have been sold to many thousands of people, generating substantial funds for the campaign and raising its profile in the wider community. The team responsible for its production is already planning for the 2009 edition, which will be the 7th in the series.

We are asking people to donate photos for use in the 2009 Calendar or for the next Christmas card and possibly for other SSE purposes. The team is keen to receive photos taken at any time of the year. Preference is for three pictures of the same town, village, area or theme in the same season, ideally landscape rather than portrait, but any outstanding pictures have a chance of acceptance.

Digital photos will need to be of a high quality to meet the exacting print quality required, especially for the main monthly picture. A digital image with a file size of less than 1mb is unlikely to reproduce with sufficient clarity.

In such a lovely and interesting area with so many attractive towns and villages it will take many more years to show them all.

Suggested photographic targets for 2009 are as follows: Barnston; Bobbingworth; Clavering; Debden; Duton Hill; Elmdon; Farnham; Great Easton; Little Hallingbury; Hatfield Broad Oak; High Wych; Hunsdon; Little Hadham; Moreton; Much Hadham; Puckeridge; Quendon; Radwinter; Rickling; Suffolk; Ware; Willingale and Wimbish. Please use this list as a guide, but quality sets of three or more photos for other places will be considered.

Photos must be your own work and you must still own the copyright. The selection for the next calendar will be chosen by the usual team, led by Ken McDonald.

Please submit digital files or prints from film. Do not send slides or negatives. If your photo is selected for inclusion, then we will need a high resolution digital file or a large print (9 inches x 6 inches or bigger) or the negative, so please be sure you can find the original digital file or negative!

If submitting a print, please put your name on the back – best to write it on a label or post-it note and then stick it to the back. Please enclose an addressed envelope so photos can be returned in due course. Describe where each photo was taken, and give any particularly pertinent background information.

Photos may be sent at any time, but should arrive no later than 30th June 2008. Please send them to Ken McDonald, 2 Greenfields, Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex, CM24 8AH.

SSE will not want exclusive publishing rights to the photos. This leaves you free to publish elsewhere if you have the opportunity. Any unwanted prints will be returned, and prints selected for use will be returned after being professionally scanned.

There are no prizes, but we hope SSE's need will give photographers an added incentive to explore and enjoy the area. Get snapping!
