BAA has been consulting on the proposed expansion of Stansted Airport to increase
the capacity of the existing runway from the currently permitted 25 million
passengers per annum (mppa) to 35mppa and also on the related 'master plan'.
This consultation ran until 31 October 2005 and was a precursor to the
submission of a formal planning application for expanding the use of the
existing runway which BAA says it expects to make in Spring 2006.
This so-called consultation was the first
step in a plan that would see a DOUBLING of traffic on the existing runway.
That could eventually lead to a SECOND RUNWAY, making Stansted bigger than
the world's largest airport.
We urged you as a minimum to write to your MP with copies to your local councillors and BAA.
